of Oh Ni Toh's Altar

Another fascinating
unique landmark of Bau Town. It is a 'Taffic roundabout which doubles as a Buddhist Altar'.
As a traffic roundabout the temple is sure to
become one of the tourist sights of Bau, but its significance
to the locals makes it much more'.than that. The original wooden
shrine was built not to guard against traffic accidents, but
toward off evil spirits. It was the cars, not the deity which
had to make way and today she is as solidly stand in the chosen
spot as she was half a century ago.
In 1971 the wooden
shrine was replaced by a concrete one, and 15 years later it
was finally remodelled and put under cover to form a small temple.
